Eric Berry has been a software developer since 1997. He co-founded a startup in 1999 called ShareAPhoto which was acquired by Hewlett Packard in 2006 for 19M Euro. He is the author of the Rails Pocket Reference (O’Reilly 2008) and have been an active member and leader within the open source developer community since. Aside from programming, his roles within other companies has been in marketing and business development.
In 2017, Eric started Code Sponsor -- an ethical advertising network to fund open source maintainers. Soon afterwards, he joined the Gitcoin team as a co-founder and re-built Code Sponsor into CodeFund. As of December 2019, CodeFund has paid out over $380K to open source developers all over the world. He is also a board member of the Open Source Collective (OSC) and co-organizer of the annual Sustain Summit. helps drive additional efforts to provide funding to open source maintainers.
